CHURCH of CHRIST
ABOUT US
The church of Christ that meets in Gunnison is a small but active church. The church has gone through some changes in the past few years and continues to be a congregation grounded in God's word. Our building location is the closest to the Western University campus in town, and we host one-on-one and small group Bible studies for students. This one congregation ministers to the towns of Gunnison, Crested Butte, Lake City, Cimarron, Pitkin and Parlin. We are in many ways a mission work ourselves and the work can be challenging at times especially in the winter months. However, the challenge to reach out and preach the saving message of Jesus Christ should always be the mission of every church no matter it's location. This is what we strive for and this is what we're called to. God has blessed us with this work and our aim is to please Him. To God be the glory.
Our current minister is Adam Hahn, a 2015 graduate of the Bear Valley Bible institute in Denver Colorado.
Adam moved to the Gunnison Valley in February 2018 with his wife Cienna and two children. Adam had been working on a ranch just outside of Gunnison and was preaching part-time in Delta Colorado until he took the full-time position as minister here in February 2021.
We simply believe what the Bible teaches
The Bible gives us the foundation for what we believe & teach here in Gunnison and anywhere we happen to be. We ask you to study these things carefully from God's word and see that what we believe & teach is indeed the truth.
The Bible
The Bible is a sacred collection of 66 books, written over a period of 1500 years. We believe these books are God’s revelation to mankind, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and man’s only guide to doing the will of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
God
There is one God, the Creator of the universe, good, all-knowing, all-powerful, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus
God the son existed from the beginning, became a man, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose from the grave, reigns over all, and is the savior of his followers (John 1:1,14).
Salvation
Since everyone has sinned and been separated from God, God sent Christ to be an offering for our sins. We accept God’s saving grace through faith, repentance, confession, and baptism. By doing this we are united with Christ’s death and brought into a right relationship with God (Romans 6:1-18; 8:1-4). Out of love, we remain obedient till death.
Christ’s church
Christ’s church is made up of all those who believe and have been baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:27; 1 Corinthians 12:13). Our congregation of Jesus’ church is independent, under only the authority of God’s word. We are spiritually led by our own elders and ministers as directed by the New Testament.
Eternity
All will die and face God’s judgment (2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 9:27). Some will spend eternity in a place of torment (Matthew 25:41). Those in Christ will spend eternity in the heavenly city prepared by God for his people (Matthew 25:34; Revelation 21:1-5).
